Continuous Intraventricular Morphine Infusion for Cancer Pain

Abstract
The author experienced two cases of intractable cancer related pain treated with continuous intraventricular morphine infusion through an implanted port system. One patient suffered from tongue cancer and the other from gail bladder cancer whose
pain
was beyond control though an epidural route.
Our impression is that is a safe and effective method of pain management in patients with head and neck cancer. It seems useful as well in patients who have intractable pain unmanageable through an intrathecal or epidural route.
